With more than 20 years of association management experience, A. Cedric Calhoun, FASAE, CAE is a go-to expert for financial strategies around program growth and assessment as well as providing consulting services ranging from credentialing and product management to organizational change and planning.
Throughout his career, Calhoun has served in leadership positions in a variety of organizations in the areas of credentialing, education, healthcare, science and technology as well as finance and tax.
Previously, Calhoun served as the Executive Vice President of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) bringing about organizational change and financial sustainability by implementing aggressive governance changes and technology management strategies to ensure long-term growth. These changes resulted in a positive change in net assets of 20% in one year. From 2007-2015, Calhoun served at the executive director of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (formerly the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers), where Calhoun led critical initiatives including name change and rebranding, membership growth, advocacy strategy, and product line development.
For nearly a decade, Calhoun has served as a strategic advisor in the credentialing field in the areas of program assessment, marketing and communications and technology. He founded one of the first stand-alone online recertification tracking systems making him an expert in this space. He has worked with credentialing organizations to increase profits and productivity as well as industry relevance. Additionally, he has spoken on the subject of the value and importance of credentialing domestically and internationally.
As an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Calhoun was named a Fellow in 2008. Calhoun has contributed in a number of capacities including as the 2010-2012 Chair of the CEO Advisory Board, 2004-2006 Chair of the Marketing Section Council, writer for the Associations Now magazine and content leader at several conferences.
Calhoun received his undergraduate degree in psychology with a concentration in business from Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Calhoun and his two children reside in Silver Spring, Maryland.
